Volcano A 9/13

Approaching Capulin Volcano.

Note the flat terrain with a solitary
volcano cone. Most of this flat plain
is at 6500 feet; around the volcano,
where lava has spread out, it rises gently,

visitor center is 7200 feet; highest point
on the rim is 8182 feet.

This shot was taken at a (rare) turnout on the road which spirals around the cone.

This is maybe half way up.

That's Rosemary standing by the sign.

We are looking back down the road.

Note how it's a narrow shelf carved out of the
side, with nothing on the outside.

Rosemary wanted to show this smaller volcano
with a distinctly visible crater.

just left of center horizontal)

Sierra Grande. Read the sign.
